Since September 2017, six partners from Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Finland with the lead of Hanse Parlament have been carrying out the three-year project Designing and implementing a dual Bachelor’s degree study course with integral attainment of a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
The main task of the project is to develop two dual study programmes which enable students to obtain (academic) Bachelor’s and Master Craftsman (Meister) degrees after completing their studies.
We can already report good intermediate results:
Firstly, the development of the study course Civil Engineering with Master craftsman qualification in construction professions has been completed and is currently being run with 95 students at the hochschule21 in Buxtehude, Germany.
Secondly, the study of Electrical Engineering with integrated Master craftsman qualification in electrical occupations has been completed and the Partner Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is currently undergoing the accreditation process. The implementation will start in September 2020.
In addition, Wielkopolska Chamber of Crafts in Poznan is currently testing the Business Management and Vocational Education modules of the Civil Engineering course.
The project consortium developed national-specific examination regulations for obtaining both the Bachelor’s degree and Master Craftsman qualification as well as guidelines and application instructions for the implementation of the study courses.
On October 25, 2019 the Wielkopolska Chamber of Crafts in Poznan, together with the University of Life Sciences, invited to the common dialogue on the project topic and results at a conference. There was great interest, 117 participants – companies, representatives from education and politics, students – took part in the conference. They assessed the presented innovative courses of studies as a future-oriented form of education in order to successfully meet the blatant shortage of entrepreneurs and managers in the skilled trades and in small and medium-sized enterprises.
The final conference is going to take place on 19 June 2020 in Vilnius. In this context, the last project workshop will take place the day before.
