Am 22.02.2010 wird in einem Festakt im Hamburger Rathaus die Baltic Sea Academy gegründet. Die Baltic Sea Academy betreibt eine Eliteausbildung für den Unternehmernachwuchs und fördert zugleich nachdrücklich Innovationen in der mittelständischen Wirtschaft. Mit dieser in Europa bislang einzigartigen Einrichtung wird erstmalig eine spezifische Infrastruktur für die Innovationsförderung der kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen geschaffen. Die Verknüpfung von Ausbildung und Forschung hilft, die größten Engpässe für die Weiterentwicklung des Mittelstands zu beseitigen. Die ostseeweite Zusammenarbeit von 15 Hochschulen und Universitäten aus Hamburg, Niedersachsen, Polen, Litauen, Lettland, Estland, Weißrussland, Russland, Finnland und Schweden sichert zugleich die internationale Kooperation in Lehre und Forschung und fördert die außenwirtschaftliche Tätigkeit der kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen.

THE INTERREG IV B Northsea project "ERIP", lead by the english Lead Partner OneNorthEast, was approved by the Steering Committe. In this project the Hanseatic Parliament will focus on the transfer of SME promotion measures between the two regions.
